Haute Route Pyrenees 2016: Travel Day

TRAVEL DAY: YVR - Heathrow - Biarritz

The Jordan. Going for 6.

First 3: TransAlps 2010/2011/2012
Temporary retirement: 2013
Final 3: Haute Route Alps 2014/TransAlps 2015/Haute Route Pyrenees 2016

2016 edition. Similar program. Similar crew. Some changes. Different track.

This Haute Route Pyrenees 2016 cast.

The Rookie
Colin aka “Busta” Rimes. Never short on energy. A Tuesday Nighter specialist. Sprinter turned climber. Did a personal best of 32min up Cypress last weekend. He’s as ready as a rookie can be but one never knows how the body will respond over 7days. Stay tuned. I can promise his story won’t be boring. Never is.

The Pro
Jamie aka “Ribs” Armstrong. The only true professional in group. No one has logged more hours on a bike this season. Incredibly, only a handful of outdoor rides and only a couple of rides over 4hrs in preparation. Indoor spinning is real. Jamie will likely lead our squad’s charge. 3hrs of spin a day does fulfill the quality over quantity mantra.

The 4th Liner
What TL lacks in ideal cycling physique, he makes up with determination. Despite having to haul 200lbs up and over 20,000 vertical meters of climbing over 7days, TL will be at the start line every day looking to make a difference. He claims this is his 7th grand tour. 3 of them were on fat tires. Not sure they count.

Le Directeur Sportif
C’est moi.

Left YVR Tuesday night. Arrived Biarritz Wednesday early evening. No bikes. Apparently they arrive tomorrow - hopefully, as none of us too keen doing "the Froome" for 7-days.
